Our
Social Work Interns are dedicated students seeking field experience and enriching
opportunities. As a result, we welcome them and encourage them to pursue educations
and professions by volunteering/working with our agency. We strive to provide
them with hands-on experiences to help them prepare for their futures.
Cora Espinoza
Cora Espinoza has been a summer Public Housing Assistant since 2013 at the Edinburg Housing Authority. She is currently attending Texas
A&M-Kingsville where she is studying English. Her goal is to become a middle
school teacher and wishes for children to learn about the fine arts. Being a
musician herself, she would like children to be musically educated and
involved.
Tishi Plascencia
Tishi Plascencia was a Section 8 Caseworker Assistant for Edinburg Housing Authority under the co-op program. The Robert Vela High School recent graduate plans on attending Le Courdon Blu College in Austin this coming fall. She
hopes to become a pastry chef. Her goals for the future are to open up her own
bakery and partake in helping people with public housing.
Samantha Ruelas is working part-time as a Section 8 Caseworker Assistant. Ruelas is currently
majoring in psychology at Texas State University. She'd like to earn some hands-on experience in helping people. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue a graduate degree in counseling.
Yesenia Zapata is working part time as a Section
8 Caseworker Assistant. She graduated from Edinburg High School in May
2015. Zapata plans to pursue a degree in Sport, Event, and Tourism Management at the University of Texas San Antonio. In the future,
she’d like to create a non-profit sports organization for less fortunate
children in the community.
